Watch the video above for a demonstration or use the instructions below as a quick reference.

Arming the Bed Exit Alarm

  1. On the footboard touchscreen, select the Exit Alarm icon.

  2. Choose the appropriate sensitivity zone for your patient:

    • Low Zone – For flight risk or ambulatory patients.

      • Alarm triggers when the patient leaves the bed.

    • Default Zone – For fall risk patients.

      • Alarm triggers when the patient moves toward the side rails or foot end to exit.

    • High Zone – For unconscious, sedated, or intubated patients.

      • Alarm triggers when the patient repositions in bed.

  3. Once the zone is selected, the system automatically calibrates to the patient’s weight.

  4. The alarm will activate when 50% of the patient’s weight shifts out of the safe zone.

Disarming or Silencing the Alarm

There are two ways to disarm or silence the bed exit alarm:

Option 1: Footboard Touchscreen
  1. On the touchscreen, tap Turn Off to disarm the alarm.

Option 2: Side Rail Control
  1. A concealed Bed Exit Silence icon located near the head end of the side rail will illuminate when the alarm is active.

  2. Press this icon to silence or disarm the alarm directly from bedside.

Resetting the Alarm

  • After the alarm has been canceled, a prompt will appear on the footboard screen reminding caregivers to reset the alarm before leaving the patient’s room.

  • Always verify that the system has been re-armed and properly assigned to the correct zone for continued monitoring.
