Basic Controls

Location of Controls

Caregiver controls are located on the outside of each head and side rail.

These controls allow staff to easily adjust the bed for patient comfort, safety, and care procedures.
Available Control Functions
Each side rail includes buttons for:

Brake Set – Locks or releases the bed brakes.

Height of Bed Motion – Raises or lowers the entire bed.
-
Head of Bed Motion – Raises or lowers the head section.

Knee Gatch Motion – Raises or lowers the leg section.
-
Preset Bed Positions – Provides one-touch positioning for specific patient needs.
Using the Motion Controls

Press and hold the desired motion button.

Continue holding until the bed reaches the desired position.

Release the button to stop movement.
Tip: A green icon near the Head-of-Bed (HOB) symbols will illuminate when the HOB is at or above 30°, indicating an appropriate elevation for respiratory or aspiration precautions.
One-Touch Bed Positions
The control panel includes preset buttons for quick access to common positions:
| Preset Position | Function |
|---|---|
| Trendelenburg | Tilts the bed so the patient’s head is lower than the feet. |
| Reverse Trendelenburg | Tilts the bed so the patient’s head is higher than the feet. |
| Bed Flat | Returns the bed to a completely flat position. |
| Vascular Position | Elevates the legs above heart level to promote circulation. |
| Cardiac Chair | Raises the head and knees, creating a seated position that supports breathing and comfort. |
| Patient Stand Assist | Raises the head of bed, lowers the foot section, and adjusts the height for easier patient egress. (Available only on advanced side rail option.) |
Operating the Preset Positions

Press and hold any preset button.

Keep holding until the bed reaches the selected position.

Release the button once the bed stops moving.
