Taking an Exam with Proctorio

What is Proctorio?

Proctorio is an online exam monitoring tool used in some Canvas courses at Temple University. It works through the Google Chrome browser and ensures academic integrity during remote exams. Your instructor may use Proctorio for quizzes or exams in fully online, hybrid, or even in-person courses.

How Do I Use It?

1. Install the Chrome Extension from within your Canvas course under the "Secure Exam Proctor" link.

2. When taking a Proctorio-enabled quiz or exam, make sure:

   • You're using Chrome with the extension installed.

   • You’re connected to a strong internet signal.

   • Your camera and microphone are working properly.

3. During the test, Proctorio will verify your identity and monitor your environment and activity.

4. Do not refresh or navigate away during the test, and avoid switching tabs or using unauthorized materials.

5. All your data and recordings are encrypted and only accessible by authorized course staff.
