Battery Kiosks

Temple University provides portable battery units—called power banks—through an automated kiosk system known as Battery Share. These devices can be borrowed free of charge and are designed to help you charge your laptop or mobile devices while on campus.

This page provides location-specific guidance for Paley Hall. For full program details, please visit the official Battery Share.

Borrowing Guidelines

  • Loan period: Up to 5 hours, or until the building closes (whichever comes first)

  • Cost: No charge

  • Limit: One power bank per student at a time

  • Returns: Return the power bank to any available kiosk on campus. Slide the device fully into the slot until it locks into place and wait for the confirmation message on screen.

  • Late fees: $10 per hour, up to 24 hours. After 24 hours, the full replacement cost of the power bank will be charged.

Power banks must be returned to a kiosk. They cannot be returned to staff members.

Device Features

Each power bank includes:

  • One standard three-prong outlet

  • Multiple USB ports

Charging cables are not included, so please bring your own device-compatible cable.

Usage Instructions

  • Power banks may be used within Paley Hall only. Do not take them to other buildings or off campus.

  • Accept the Borrower’s Agreement directly at the kiosk before checkout.

  • Return the unit to a kiosk before the due time to avoid fees.

  • If the device is not working properly, return it within 15 minutes and report the issue using the on-screen prompt.
