Brakes

Watch the video above for a demonstration or use the instructions below as a quick reference.

Overview

The ProCuity bed is equipped with two brake pedals that allow caregivers to securely lock the bed, place it in steer mode for transport, or set it to neutral for free movement.

These pedals are located at both the head and foot of the bed for easy access.

Manual Brake Operation

  1. Use your foot to press the desired pedal at either end of the bed.

  2. The pedals control three main functions:

    • Brake (Lock) – Secures all casters and prevents movement.

    • Steer – Locks one caster to assist with straight-line movement.

    • Neutral – Allows all casters to swivel freely for maneuvering.

  3. When the brake is not activated, an amber light will illuminate on the side rails and footboard, indicating the bed is mobile.

Electric Brake System (LE, Z, and CM Models)

Foot End Touchscreen Controls

  1. On the touchscreen, locate the brake icon at the bottom right corner.

  2. Tap Turn Brakes On to engage the brakes.

  3. When the brakes are active, the icon will illuminate.

Side Rail Controls

  1. Press the brake icon located on either side rail to set or release the brake.

  2. The icons will light up when the brakes are not set, serving as a visual reminder that the bed is mobile.
